How to Create a Sacred Space Anywhere: Crystals, Essential Oils & Ritual Tools

Follow along to the video here!

Creating a sacred space doesn’t have to mean building an elaborate altar or dedicating a whole room. In fact, you can create a calming, high-vibe sanctuary anytime, anywhere—whether you’re at home, traveling, camping in the woods, or setting up in your hotel room.

As a healer and a traveler, I’ve learned the importance of carrying crystals, essential oils, and ceremonial tools that instantly shift energy and help me reconnect with my highest self. In this guide, I’ll show you the exact methods and tools I use to create a sacred space that supports meditation, chakra healing, and intention-setting—no matter where you are.

Here are my favorite tools and methods for making your sacred space process as easy and repeatable as possible!

Chakra Crystals for Your Sacred Space

The first thing you should always have on hand are your crystals. They set the tone of the space and align your energy with your intentions. I recommend bringing one crystal for each chakra, stored in a small travel pouch.

Additional Healing Crystals to Amplify Energy

Beyond the chakra set, I recommend carrying a Clear Quartz point and a Smoky Quartz point.

  • Clear Quartz amplifies the energy of other crystals, boosts clarity, and strengthens intention.

  • Smoky Quartz helps release negativity, making it especially powerful during cleansing or releasing meditations.

You can use all of these chakra crystals to lay on top of each chakra on your body. This will give you a super powerful chakra healing ceremony in just 30 minutes while letting the crystals do their work. Now that you've got a crystal for every chakra, you can help support that chakra, anywhere you are!

Essential Oils for Cleansing and Protection

Another must-have for creating a sacred space is essential oils. My top favorites are Palo Santo oil or Sage oil.

Both oils help you clear lingering energy from a space and protect your own vibration. Simply place a drop on your palms, rub together, breathe in deeply, and apply to pulse points. The scent supports your emotions through the limbic system, helping you shift into ceremony quickly.

How to Cleanse the Energy of Any Space

Before beginning any ritual, it’s important to cleanse the space. You never know what energy was left behind by others.

  • Smudge with Sage: Burning a sage bundle for just a few minutes can cleanse an entire room.

  • Burn Palo Santo: Palo Santo creates that familiar “yoga studio” smell and brings clarity and protection.

Palo santo sticks are trickier to burn indoors, though. You’ll need a fire safe vessel to lay the Palo Santo in, and you’ll want to check to make sure it burns out completely, to avoid any fire hazards. For this reason, I prefer to use Sage indoors and Palo Santo when I’m camping. Once the Palo Santo is done burning, you can easily toss it into the campfire. Whichever you choose, as the cleansing smoke enters the air, you’ll notice a lightness and freshness, and you’ll likely feel a shift in the energy of the room. You'll also feel a shift in the energy of yourself.

Step-by-Step: Preparing for Your Sacred Ceremony

  1. Find a comfortable space. Couch, yoga mat, or even a camping chair — wherever you can fully relax.

  2. Set aside quiet time. Let loved ones know this is your time, silence notifications, and remove distractions.

  3. Create a peaceful atmosphere. Use silence, music, or sound healing. My favorite digital tool is Insight Timer, which offers free meditations, playlists, and even my own guided sessions.

Now that you have a comfortable, quiet spot ready for your sacred ceremony, and time on your hands-It’s time to start your process!

There are so many healing ceremonies, guided meditations, and releasing ceremony tutorials out there and it can be overwhelming! Don’t know where to start?
