How to Clean your Crystal Roller Bottles

I received this great question from a customer recently: "Can I wash the crystals from your rollers and reuse them again in my roller bottles?"

The answer is "Absolutely, Yes!"

Cleaning your Crystal Roller Bottle is Simple

You can wash the roller and the crystals with your favorite natural soap. Need a recommendation? Try Thieves Dish Soap or Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Liquid Soap. Just a drop will be plenty to rinse off the crystals in warm water, and pat dry with a soft cloth, before placing them back in the bottle for reuse.

I also usually boil the glass bottles, since that's the easiest way to insure removing any carrier oil residue. Do NOT boil the roller ball or the cap, as they may warp.

Note about Carrier Oils:

I also mention in this video that I personally choose to use fractionated coconut oil for all my DIYs and products for our shop.

When making roller blends, always make sure to use crystals that are safe to store in liquids.

A carrier oil is an oily oil. These oil are derived from the fatty portion of a nut, seed, fruit or kernel of a vegetable or other plant using one of two main methods of extraction: maceration or cold-pressing. Carrier oils come from things like Coconuts, Almonds, Olives, Grapeseeds, etc.

Most carrier oils last for only 3-6 months unrefrigerated or 12-24 months when refrigerated. I’ve had experiences where they started to go bad even sooner, so this is important to keep in mind.

Fractionated Coconut Oil is ideal for rollerballs because it doesn’t solidify at room temperature, like virgin coconut oil. The fractionation process also gives a longer shelf-life than virgin or raw oils.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you’re using Safe Crystals

Please note that all the crystals that I use in my rollers are natural, undyed, and safe to store in liquids. If you haven't seen my Safety Video yet, you can check it here.
