Aragonite

An Introduction to Aragonite

Aragonite is one of the most easily identified crystals, due to its sticking orange hue and distinctive shape. It’s orthorhombic crystal system often forms into “star clusters,” which are often used in healing practices to resonate positive energy outwards and balance the energies in a space.

Aragonite is a soft stone, only 3.5 or 4 on the Mohs Hardness scale, which means it can scratch or chip more easily than other gemstones such as quartz.

Even if you haven’t seen a star cluster Aragonite, you’ve almost certainly seen it in another form, as it’s found in many seashells and coral. Made from the same calcium carbonate that usually forms calcite, Aragonite take form when this compound is exposed to seawater.
