Creating Balance through a Simple Self Care Routine - with Nicole Vliestra

What is balance?

In every aspect of life, comes some sort of balance. Whether we feel balanced or not, it’s still in play. Self care and balance may seem like two different things, but they actually go hand in hand. With self care, should come balance, and vice versa. With this, when we think of self care, we usually feel doubt. We doubt that we can do it, that we have time for it, or even that we deserve it. None of which is true. This is where balance comes in.

Self care is important, and it needs to be made a priority. You need to make time for self care and personal time. I don’t believe in not having time for things. You can make time for just about anything. These are called priorities. If it is important to you, schedule it in, make time.

The more you take care of yourself, the more you have to give.

The more you take care of yourself, the more you have to give.

But taking time for myself is selfish of me to even consider changing my schedule and lifestyle for”, you might be saying to yourself. The more you take care of yourself, the more you have to give. Whether it be to your family, job, or life in general. Take care of yourself, so you can take care of others. It’s really a win-win if you ask me. You need to believe this, truly. Say it over and over until you do. Because you DO deserve it. And you need and deserve time for self care. I also feel the more you’re aware of all aspects of your being, including your self care needs, the better and more equipped you can be towards life in general.

What is self care?

If you have ten minutes, take those ten minutes and use them wisely. What you do is up to you!

If you have ten minutes, take those ten minutes and use them wisely. What you do is up to you!

Self care means something different to everyone. Self care doesn’t have to mean one entire day every week or even an hour everyday. If you have ten minutes, take those ten minutes and use them wisely. Read, take a bath, go for a walk, close your eyes, what you do is up to you. I even have clients that organizes a cupboard. For some, this is not fun nor relaxing, for some it is. And for some, doing this task now, brings peace of mind later, and that is what they needed for self care at that time. And that’s perfectly ok. Self care is whatever it means to you.

The body needs rest and the mind needs peace. The crazy of life tends to take over these things, we can’t always be go-go-go. We will wear ourselves down, which does no one good. Not your kids, partner, co-workers, boss, business, friends, etc. Renewing yourself= renewing others. This is another way balance and self care go hand in hand. If balance means you need to actually schedule self care, then that is what you need to do. Especially at first. We all need that support and help when building a new routine of sorts. And life gets crazy. But, you can make it happen. You can have personal time regularly. As much as you want, actually! Enjoy.

I encourage you to plan some time for self care today. Yes today. Whether it be 5 minutes or 5 hours. And share with us below what that is going to be! Share why as well, if you’d like. And let’s be encouraging to each other in our self care journeys.
